Audiobook Review – A Tiger’s Claim by Lia Davis
A Tiger’s Claim
As the Alpha’s only daughter Shayna Andrews has always been treated like a rare gem, protected like royalty, and she’s suffocating. Her longing to be independent has driven her to sneak out one evening after dinner. After relishing in being able to run free without an escort, she finds herself face-to-face with the enemy, miles from home, and nearly loses her life until a lone wolf comes to her aid.
Travis Hunter’s main objective is to destroy the Onyx Pack – a group of drug using, murdering rogue shifters. His seek-and-destroy plans are put on hold when he rescues a female from a brutal attack. The beautifully exotic tiger shifter, Shayna, stirs a passion he thought died with his long-lost mate. When Shay’s first heat cycle slams into her, Travis has no choice but to submit to her needs–and his own. But there is always a price to sleeping with the Pack princess. Not only will they have to face her Pack, Shay and Travis will have to deal with a mating that is beyond a single night and could have consequences more than either of them had thought. And when Travis finds out Shay wears the enemy’s brand, things will go from bad to worse.
Danica Welsh was born to be the leopard pack healer. An accident involving a drug induced youth left her badly burned and scared – emotionally and physically. Without the ability to heal by touch, she secludes herself to the edge of town, away from Ashwood Falls’ overly concerned citizens. All hope of mating and family become a distance dream. When she finally starts to accepts the long, lonely existence ahead of her, a stranger crashes into her life, and her heart.
I was really intrigued by everything in the novella Winter Eve and excited to see where this series would take me. This is a great first book!! Action, romance and so much going one it kept the story flowing from beginning to end!
Shay is a spicy spitfire and I love her!! Sure she makes some dumb choices flexing her independence but everything turns out alright!! I love all her stubborn attitude and hew gentle heart. She was really fun to read and I can not wait to see her grow through the series.
Travis is a perfect match for Shay. His wolf knows just how to keep the sexy tigress in check!! I loved that he was dominant but not over powering. He really did have a very nice balance. And while he had tragedy in his past he did not really wallow in self pity.
The story here was great! Kudos to Ms Davis on her storytelling!! It was beautifully paced and surprisingly action packed for a the length. Lots of events happening but never confusing or overwhelming. The back story is explored more here and I can see that the story is going to get even more involved with each new book in the series. Great world creating and such detail. I would have liked a little more info on the big battle. It seemed like it started and was just getting interesting when, BAM, it was over. I am really excited to keep following the shifters on their journey and see what will evolve with the rogues.
The steam factor was hot and delicious!! Plenty of bedroom action to keep a girls engines revved! Very creative and not formula at all!!! They were just a little short. I like to wallow in my smut sometimes! But it wasn’t a major problem for me cause I was really digging the story!
The audiobook narrated by Keely J. Wolter was nicely done. I enjoyed her tone and pace, it fit the story very well. It could have been a touch faster, but speeding it up fixes it. I think she is a newer narrator, so she will need some time to grow. Right now, she has some seriously hissing “s” that my ears had to get used to, it took a moment to adjust. I would be interested in seeing her in another year. Some great potential, just needs a touch of refinement.
Can’t wait to leap into the next book!!! I hear it is that dishy grouch Blaine and his saucy mate Cameron’s turn!!!
